Welcome to Murray Hill Farm

Pre-Spring 2010

Our free range, heritage breed chickens, who haven't had much fun free ranging in the snow, are laying more eggs now that the days are getting longer. We have had three new Navajo-Churro lambs born this year so far. Two ewes and a ram. Three fleeces were sent to a small mill in Washington state, and we are eagerly awaiting the return of soft, fluffy roving for Suzy to turn into yarn, then knit into lots of one-of-a-kind items.

Fifty more baby chicks will be making our farm their new home very soon. We've had to increase our flock to keep up with the demand for eggs. We are waiting for the snow to melt to begin work on our raised bed areas and will be starting some of the vegetable plugs very soon.

Eager to get some fresh veggies, we have grown three flats of mixed lettuce under lights in our basement!  In a week we'll start some more, and we can't wait for the first salad!
